Call to Worship

While making the sign of the cross:

God, come to our assistance.
Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to the Father and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

In Every Age (1)

Long before the mountains came to be
and the land and sea and stars of the night,
through the endless seasons of all time,
you have always been,
you will always be.

In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our refuge.
In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our hope.

Destiny is cast, and at your silent word,
we return to dust and scatter to the wind.
A thousand years are like a single moment gone,
as the light fades
at the end of day.

In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our refuge.
In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our hope.

Teach us to make use of the time we have.
Teach us to be patient even as we wait.
Teach us to embrace our ev’ry joy and pain.
To sleep peacefully,
and to rise up strong.

In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our refuge.
In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our hope.

In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our refuge.
In ev’ry age, O God,
you have been our hope.

You have been our refuge.
You have been our hope.

PSALMODY

Psalm 141:1-9

Ant. O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Lord, I am calling: hasten to help me.
Listen to me as I cry to you.
Let my prayer rise before you like incense,
my hands like an evening offering.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Lord, set a guard at my mouth,
keep watch at the gate of my lips.
Let my heart not turn to things that are wrong,
to sharing the evil deeds done by the sinful.
No, I will never taste their delights.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

The good may reprove me,
In kindness chastise me,
but the wicked shall never anoint my head.
Every day, I counter their malice with prayer.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

To you, Lord my God, my eyes are turned:
In you I take refuge; do not forsake me.
Keep me safe from the traps they have set for me,
from the snares of those who do evil.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Praise to the Father, praise to the Son,
all praise to the life giving Spirit.
As it was, is now, and shall always be
for ages unending. Amen.

Ant. O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Psalm Prayer

Lord,
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
your name is worthy of all praise.
Let our prayer come like incense before you.
May the lifting up of our hands
be as an evening sacrifice
acceptable to you,
Lord, our God.

Psalm 111

Ant. As the shining of the sun, so was this man in the house of God.

With my whole heart
I praise the Lord among the just.
Great are God's works, a delight to explore.
In splendor, in majesty, God's justice will stand.

Who can forget God's wonders!
a God, merciful and kind
who nourished the faithful,
upheld the covenant,
and revealed mighty deeds,
giving them the land of pagans.

Faithful, just, and true are all God's decrees:
Each law in its place,
valid for ever.

The Lord redeems the faithful,
decrees a lasting covenant.
Holy and awesome God's name!

Fear of the Lord is wisdom's crown,
wise are those who live by it.
Praise the Lord forever!

Glory to Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen

Ant. As the shining of the sun, so was this man in the house of God.

Canticle
Revelation 15:3-4

Ant. The saints were singing a new song before the throne of God and of the Lamb, and the earth rang with their voices.

Mighty and wonderful are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways, O King of the nations!

Who would dare refuse you honor
or the glory due your name, O Lord?

Since you alone are holy, all nations shall come and worship in your presence.
Your mighty deeds are clearly seen.

Glory to Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen.

Ant. The saints were singing a new song before the throne of God and of the Lamb, and the earth rang with their voices.

Reading

A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans

(Romans 8:28-30)

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. For those he ordained, he also predestined to conform to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Take a few moments to reflect on the reading.

Responsory

My duty is to preach the Gospel, to make known the riches of Christ.
My duty is to preach the Gospel, to make known the riches of Christ.
So that through the Church the wisdom of God may be revealed,
to make known the riches of Christ.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
My duty is to preach the Gospel, to make known the riches of Christ.

Gospel Canticle
Canticle of Mary

The Magnificat (3)
Luke 1:46-55
Ant. Albert, father so admirable, rejoicing always in the grace of God, hear us who praise you on earth, and carry our prayers to God.

While making the sign of the cross:

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit sings to God, my saving God,
Who on this day, above all others, favored me
And raised me up, a light for all to see.

Through me, great deeds will God make manifest
And all the earth will come to call me blest.
Unbounded love and mercy sure will I proclaim
For all who know and praise God’s holy name.

God’s mighty arm, protector of the just,
Will guard the weak and raise them from the dust.
But mighty kings will swiftly fall from thrones corrupt.
The strong brought low, the lowly lifted up.

Soon will the poor and hungry of the earth
Be richly blest, be given greater worth.
And Israel, as once foretold to Abraham,
Will live in peace throughout the promised land.

All glory be to God, Creator blest,
To Jesus Christ, God’s love made manifest,
And to the Holy Spirit, gentle Comforter,
All glory be, both now and evermore.

Ant. When they heard the voice from the cloud, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear; Jesus came up to them, touched them, and said: Stand up. Do not be afraid.

Intercessions

Christ our Savior, you clothe your followers in holiness and invite them to intimacy with you. Hear us as we pray with sincere hearts:
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

You gave the eucharist into the care of your church; may all people benefit from the fruits of the paschal mystery.
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

Be with all who search for the truth; may the truth they find lead them to seek you even more.
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

Help those who are striving to be pure in heart; make them witnesses in the world of your saving presence.
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

Gather your daughters and sons around your table; may they follow you closely in their poverty, chastity, and obedience.
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

Protect those who have accepted the call to dedicate their life in tribute to you; may they follow you, the Lamb of God, wherever you lead.
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

For the sick who have asked us to accompany them with our prayers, that they may experience your merciful and healing touch today.

Please pray aloud the names of those who are sick or in need of healing.

Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth.

Bring our departed brothers and sisters into your eternal kingdom; we, too, hope to end our journey there and to be with you forever.
Christ Jesus, fill us with light and truth. (4)

The Lord’s Prayer

And now let us pray with confidence as Christ our Lord asked:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

Closing Prayer

Lord God,
You made St Albert of Trapani
a model of purity and prayer,
and a devoted servant of Our Lady.
May we practice these same virtues
and so be worthy always to share
the banquet of your grace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Blessing

While making the sign of the cross:

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and
bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.

Salve Regina (5)

Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiæ,
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevæ,
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia, ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte;
Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
Pray for us.
Sant’Angelo,
Pray for us.

Let us spend this evening in peace.
Thanks be to God.
