Call to Worship

While making the sign of the cross:

God, come to our assistance.
Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to the Father and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia!

Hymn

Jesus Christ is Risen Today (1)

Jesus Christ is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heav’nly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured; Alleluia!
Now he reigns above as King, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as his love; Alleluia!
Praise him all ye heav’nly hosts, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!
Alleluia!

PSALMODY
Psalm 141:1-9

Ant. O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like incense, my hands like an evening offering.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Lord, I am calling: hasten to help me.
Listen to me as I cry to you.
Let my prayer rise before you like incense,
my hands like an evening offering.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Lord, set a guard at my mouth,
keep watch at the gate of my lips.
Let my heart not turn to things that are wrong,
to sharing the evil deeds done by the sinful.
No, I will never taste their delights.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

The good may reprove me,
In kindness chastise me,
but the wicked shall never anoint my head.
Every day, I counter their malice with prayer.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

To you, Lord my God, my eyes are turned:
In you I take refuge; do not forsake me.
Keep me safe from the traps they have set for me,
from the snares of those who do evil.

O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.

Praise to the Father, praise to the Son,
all praise to the life giving Spirit.
As it was, is now, and shall always be
for ages unending. Amen.

Ant. O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like incense, my hands like an evening offering. (2)

Psalm Prayer

Lord,
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
your name is worthy of all praise.
Let our prayer come like incense before you.
May the lifting up of our hands
be as an evening sacrifice
acceptable to you,
Lord, our God.

Psalm 114

Ant. Come and see the place where the Lord was buried, alleluia.

When Israel came forth from Egypt,
Jacob’s children from an alien people;
Judah became the Lord’s temple;
Israel became God’s kingdom.

The sea fled at the sight:
the Jordan turned back on its course;
the mountains leapt like rams
and the hills like yearling sheep.

Why was it, sea, that you fled,
that you turned back, Jordan, on your course?
Mountains that you leapt like rams,
hills, like yearling sheep?

Tremble, O earth, before the Lord,
in the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turns the rock into a pool
and flint into a spring of water.

Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen.

Ant. Come and see the place where the Lord was buried, alleluia.

Canticle
Revelation 19:1-7

Ant. Jesus said: Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to set out for Galilee; there they will see me, alleluia.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Salvation, glory, and power to our God, whose judgments are honest and true.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Sing praise to our God, all you servants, all who worship God reverently, great and small.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The Lord, our all-powerful God, is King; let us rejoice, sing praise, and give God glory.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The wedding feast of the Lamb has begun, and His bride is prepared to welcome Him.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Ant. Jesus said: Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to set out for Galilee; there they will see me, alleluia.

Reading

A Reading from the First Letter of St. Peter
(1 Peter 2:4-5)

Come to the Lord, a living stone rejected by humans but approved, nonetheless, and precious in God’s eyes. You, too, are living stones, built as an edifice of spirit into a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Take a few moments to reflect on the reading.

Responsory

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!
This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!
This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!
This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!

Gospel Canticle
Canticle of Mary

The Magnificat (4)
Luke 1:46-55
Ant.
While I was weeping at the tomb, I saw my Lord, alleluia.

While making the sign of the cross:

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit sings to God, my saving God,
Who on this day, above all others, favored me
And raised me up, a light for all to see.

Through me, great deeds will God make manifest
And all the earth will come to call me blest.
Unbounded love and mercy sure will I proclaim
For all who know and praise God’s holy name.

God’s mighty arm, protector of the just,
Will guard the weak and raise them from the dust.
But mighty kings will swiftly fall from thrones corrupt.
The strong brought low, the lowly lifted up.

Soon will the poor and hungry of the earth
Be richly blest, be given greater worth.
And Israel, as once foretold to Abraham,
Will live in peace throughout the promised land.

All glory be to God, Creator blest,
To Jesus Christ, God’s love made manifest,
And to the Holy Spirit, gentle Comforter,
All glory be, both now and evermore.

Ant. While I was weeping at the tomb, I saw my Lord, alleluia.

Intercessions

As Christ lay in the darkness of the earth, he saw the light of a new glory. Let us cry out to him in joy:
Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer!

We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons that they may be zealous in their ministry and prepare for you a people devoted to every good work.
Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer!

We pray for all who teach in the service of your Church, that they may seek your truth with a sincere heart.
Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer!

We pray for your faithful people that they may be victorious in the contest of faith and win the prize of victory in your kingdom.
Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer!

For the sick who have asked us to accompany them with our prayers, that they may experience your merciful and healing touch today.

Please pray aloud the names of those who are sick or in need of healing.

Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer!

You went down among the dead and opened for them the gates to life; welcome our dead brothers and sisters into your kingdom.
Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! Risen Savior, Hear our Prayer! (5)

The Lord’s Prayer

And now let us pray with confidence as Christ our Lord asked:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

Closing Prayer

Loving God,
By this Easter mystery, you touch our lives with the healing power of your love.
You have given us the freedom of the children of God.
May we who now celebrate your gift find joy in it
for ever in heaven.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.
Amen.

Blessing

While making the sign of the cross:

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and
bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.

Reginia Caeli (6)

Reginia Caeli laetare, alleluia,
quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia,
ressurexit sicut dixit, alleluia;
ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
Pray for us.
Sant’Angelo,
Pray for us.

Let us spend this evening in peace.
Thanks be to God.

Rise Again (7)

Go ahead, drive the nails in my hands,
Laugh at me where you stand.
Go ahead and say it isn't me,
The day will come when you will see!

'Cause I'll rise again,
Ain't no power on earth can tie me down.
Yes, I'll rise again,
Death can't keep me in the ground!

Go ahead and mock my name,
My love for you is still the same.
Go ahead and bury me,
But very soon I will be free!

'Cause I'll rise again,
Ain't no power on earth can tie me down.
Yes, I'll rise again,
Death can't keep me in the ground!

Go ahead and say I'm dead and gone,
But you will see that you were wrong.
Go ahead, try to hide the Son,
But all will see that I'm the One!

'Cause I'll Come again,
Ain't no power on earth can keep me back.
Yes, I'll come again,
Come to take my people back!
