Call to Worship
While making the sign of the cross:
God, come to our assistance.
Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia!
Hymn
Day is Done (1)
Day is done, but love unfailing
Dwells ever here;
Shadows fall, but hope prevailing,
Calms ev'ry fear.
Loving Father, none forsaking,
Take our hearts, of love's own making,
Watch our sleeping, guard our waking,
Be always near.
Dark descends, but light unending
Shines through our night;
You are with us, ever lending
New strength to sight:
One in love, your truth confessing,
One in hope of heaven's blessing,
May we see, in love's possessing,
Love's endless light!
Eyes will close, but you, unsleeping,
Watch by our side;
Death may come, in love's safekeeping
Still we abide.
God of love, all evil quelling,
Sin forgiving, fear dispelling,
Stay with us, our hearts indwelling,
This eventide.
PSALMODY
Psalm 141:1-9
Ant. O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.
O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.
Lord, I am calling: hasten to help me.
Listen to me as I cry to you.
Let my prayer rise before you like incense,
my hands like an evening offering.
O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.
Lord, set a guard at my mouth,
keep watch at the gate of my lips.
Let my heart not turn to things that are wrong,
to sharing the evil deeds done by the sinful.
No, I will never taste their delights.
O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.
The good may reprove me,
In kindness chastise me,
but the wicked shall never anoint my head.
Every day, I counter their malice with prayer.
O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.
To you, Lord my God, my eyes are turned:
In you I take refuge; do not forsake me.
Keep me safe from the traps they have set for me,
from the snares of those who do evil.
O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering.
Praise to the Father, praise to the Son,
all praise to the life giving Spirit.
As it was, is now, and shall always be
for ages unending. Amen.
Ant. O Lord, let my prayer rise before you like
incense, my hands like an evening offering. (2)
Psalm Prayer
Lord,
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
your name is worthy of all praise.
Let our prayer come like incense before you.
May the lifting up of our hands
be as an evening sacrifice
acceptable to you,
Lord, our God.
Psalm 115
Ant. God dwells in highest heaven; God has power to do all according to the things God wills, alleluia.
Not to us, Lord, not to us,
but to your name give glory,
because of your love,
because of your truth.
Why do the nations say,
”Where is their God?”
Our God is in the heavens
and answers to no one.
Their gods are crafted by hand,
mere silver and gold,
with mouths that are mute
and eyes that are blind,
with ears that are deaf
and noses that cannot smell.
Their hands cannot feel,
their feet cannot walk,
their throats are silent.
Their makers, their worshipers
will be just like them.
Let Israel trust God,
their help and shield.
Let the house of Aaron trust God,
their help and shield.
Let all believers trust God,
their help and shield.
The Lord has remembered us
and will bless us,
will bless the house of Israel,
will bless the house of Aaron.
God will bless all believers,
the small and the great.
May God bless you more and more,
bless all of your children.
May you truly be blest
by the maker of heaven and earth.
To the Lord belong the heavens,
to us the earth below!
The dead sing no Hallelujah,
nor do those in the silent ground.
But we will bless you, Lord,
now and for ever, Hallelujah!
Glory to Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen
Ant. God dwells in highest heaven; God has power to do all according to the things God wills, alleluia.
CANTICLE
Revelation 19:1-7
Ant. Praise God, all you who serve the Lord, both great and small, alleluia.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Salvation, glory, and power to our God, whose judgments are honest and true.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Sing praise to our God, all you God’s servants, all who worship God reverently, great and small.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
The Lord, our all-powerful God, is King; let us rejoice, sing praise, and give God glory.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
The wedding feast of the Lamb has begun, and His bride is prepared to welcome Him.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Glory to Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever. Amen
Ant. Praise God, all you who serve the Lord, both great and small, alleluia.
Reading
A Reading from the Second Letter of St. Paul to
the Thessalonians
(2 Thessalonians 2:13-14)
But we ought to give thanks to God for you always, sisters and brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this end, God has also called you through our gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Take a few moments to reflect on the reading.
Responsory
From the rising of the sun to its setting, may the name of the Lord be praised.
From the rising of the sun to its setting, may the name of the Lord be praised.
God’s splendor reaches far beyond the heavens;
may the name of the Lord be praised.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
From the rising of the sun to its setting, may the name of the Lord be praised.

Canticle of Mary
The Magnificat (3)
Luke 1:46-55
Ant. Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. And blessed are you who hunger now; you shall be satisfied.
While making the sign of the cross:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit sings to God, my saving God,
Who on this day, above all others, favored me
And raised me up, a light for all to see.
Through me, great deeds will God make manifest
And all the earth will come to call me blest.
Unbounded love and mercy sure will I proclaim
For all who know and praise God’s holy name.
God’s mighty arm, protector of the just,
Will guard the weak and raise them from the dust.
But mighty kings will swiftly fall from thrones corrupt.
The strong brought low, the lowly lifted up.
Soon will the poor and hungry of the earth
Be richly blest, be given greater worth.
And Israel, as once foretold to Abraham,
Will live in peace throughout the promised land.
All glory be to God, Creator blest,
To Jesus Christ, God’s love made manifest,
And to the Holy Spirit, gentle Comforter,
All glory be, both now and evermore.
Ant. Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. And blessed are you who hunger now; you shall be satisfied.
Intercessions
All praise and honor to Christ! He lives for ever to intercede for us, and he is able to save those who approach the Father in his name. Sustained by our faith, let us call upon him:
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth.
As the day draws to a close, Sun of Justice, we invoke your name upon the whole human race so that all may enjoy your never-failing light.
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth.
Preserve the covenant which you have ratified in your blood: cleanse and sanctify your Church.
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth.
Remember your assembly, Lord, your dwelling place.
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth.
Guide travelers along the path of peace and prosperity
so that they may reach their destinations in safety and joy.
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth.
For the sick who have asked us to accompany them with our prayers, that they may experience your merciful and healing touch today.
Please pray aloud the names of those who are sick or in need of healing.
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth.
Receive the souls of the dead, Lord. Grant them your favor and the gift of eternal glory.
Christ, Jesus, fill us with light and truth. (4)
The Lord’s Prayer
And now let us pray with confidence as Christ our Lord asked:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
Closing Prayer
Father in heaven,
the loving plan of your wisdom took flesh in Jesus Christ
and changed mankind’s history.
by his command of perfect love.
May our fulfillment of his command reflect your wisdom
and bring your salvation to the ends of the earth.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Blessing
While making the sign of the cross:
May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and
bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
Salve Regina (5)
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiæ,
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevæ,
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia, ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte;
Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
Pray for us.
Sant’Angelo,
Pray for us.
Let us spend this evening in peace.
Thanks be to God.
