Call to Worship
While making the sign of the cross:
God, come to our assistance.
Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever.
Amen.

Change Our Hearts (2)
Change our hearts this time
Your word says it can be
Change our minds this time
Your life could make us free
We are the people your call set apart
Lord, this time change our hearts
Brought by your hand to the edge of our dreams
One foot in paradise, one in the waste
Drawn by your promises
Still, we are lured
By the shadows and the chains we leave behind, but
Change our hearts this time (change our hearts, our hearts)
Your word says it can be
Change our minds this time (change our minds)
Your life could make us free
We are the people your call set apart
Lord, this time (this time change our hearts) change our hearts
Show us the way that leads to your side
Over the mountains and sands of the soul
Be for us manna, water from the stone
Light, which says we never walk alone
Change our hearts this time
Your word says it can be
Change our minds this time
Your life could make us free
We are the people your call set apart
Lord, this time change our hearts.
Change our hearts…
Psalm 143:1-11
Ant. Do not hide your face from me; in you, I put my trust.
Hear me, faithful Lord!
Bend to my prayer, show compassion.
Do not judge me harshly;
In your sight, no one is just.
My enemy hunts me down,
Grinding me to dust,
Caging me with the dead in lasting darkness.
My strength drains away,
My heart is numb.
I remember the ancient days,
I recall your wonders,
The work of your hands.
Dry as thirsty land, I reach out for you.
Answer me quickly, Lord.
My strength is spent.
Do not hide from me
Or I will fall into the grave.
Let morning announce your love,
For it is you I trust.
Show me the right way,
I offer you myself.
Rescue me from my foes,
You are my only refuge, Lord.
Teach me your will,
For you are my God.
Graciously lead me, Lord,
On to level ground.
I call on your just name,
Keep me safe, free from danger.
In your great love for me,
Disarm my enemies,
Destroy their power,
For I belong to you.
Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning
is now and will be forever. Amen.
Ant. Do not hide your face from me; in you, I put my trust.
Reading
A Reading from the First Letter of Peter
(Peter 5:8-9a)
Stay sober and alert.
Your opponent, the devil,
is prowling like a roaring lion,
looking for someone to devour.
Resist him, solid in your faith.
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Take a few moments to reflect on the reading.
Responsory
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
You have redeemed us, Lord God of truth.
I commend my spirit.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Gospel Canticle
Canticle of Simeon
Ant. Protect us, Lord,
as we stay awake;
watch over us as we sleep,
that awake,
we may keep watch with Christ,
and asleep, rest in his peace.
Luke 2: 29-32
While making the sign of the cross:
Lord, now you let your servant
go in peace;
Your word has been fulfilled:
My own eyes have seen
the salvation
Which you have prepared in the sight of every people:
a light to reveal you to the nations
and the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to the Father and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
Is now and will be forever. Amen.
Ant. Protect us, Lord,
as we stay awake;
watch over us as we sleep,
that awake,
we may keep watch with Christ,
and asleep, rest in his peace.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Fill this night with your radiance.
May we sleep in peace
and rise with joy
to welcome the light
of a new day in your name.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Blessing
While making the sign of the cross:
May the all-powerful Lord grant us a restful night
and a peaceful death.
Amen.
